Bold openings with Seatown's TEDx speakers
getting ready for the (rehearsal) spotlight this Saturday
Happy spring, Seatown students and families!
Our Class Resources folder is updated and ready for your eyeballs if you’re looking for a refresher on what we’ve covered so far. In our Class 4 slides, you can find links to all of the boldly opened TED talk examples we shared in class last weekend.
Mr. Hunter and I were so moved by all of your creative ideas and generous peer support last weekend as we brainstormed bold openings together. We explored talks that opened with:
surprising stats
poetic sensory details
personal stories
We even watched one talk by 15-year-old storytelling phenom Noah St. John who opened his award-winning Moth story with a brave, place-finding pause.
This weekend—get ready!—we’re so excited to see all of your attention-grabbing first sentences and talk first drafts come to life on our practice stage (okay, it’s just the front of our classroom, but still). You still have a couple more days to grab a parent or a pet to practice in front of. You all are going to be great.
👉🏿👉🏽👉🏼For all of our next classes, please bring your laptop/device—we will be revising talk scripts and building slides over the coming weeks as we get ready for our May 25 showcase.
👉🏿👉🏽👉🏼And remember, we have class this Saturday, but then no class on April 6 for spring break.

See you this Saturday!
